Modernizing Care: Accessible Solutions at Sønderskovhus Center
Transforming living spaces with adaptive bathroom and kitchen solutions to boost resident independence and staff efficiency
Nestled in Lystrup and inaugurated in 1991, the local centre Sønderskovhus underwent a thoughtful renovation that reimagined its 36 elder care apartments and 24 nursing care apartments into twelve contemporary nursing units, creating a modern setting where dignity, autonomy, and communal engagement flourish.

Today, the centre’s heart comprises a health clinic, activity rooms, a fitness area, and a welcoming café, where volunteers enrich daily life through diverse programs and events.

To support both residents’ autonomy and caregivers’ wellbeing, Ropox contributed a suite of specially designed bathroom and kitchen solutions that are both functional and inviting.
In the renovated bathrooms, Ropox installed height-adjustable swing washbasins, toilet support frames, shower chairs, strategically placed grab bars, adjustable shower heads, and other essential accessories. These installations empower residents to maintain personal care routines with greater independence, while enhancing safety and minimizing the physical strain on staff—resulting in smoother, safer interactions for residents and caregivers alike.

In the kitchen and communal activity spaces, the integration of Ropox’s height-adjustable kitchen worktables enables seamless transitions between seated and standing positions, accommodating users with varying mobility levels. Whether preparing a light meal or participating in cooking classes, users and staff alike benefit from ergonomic design that supports inclusivity and usability.
