Ravenscliffe High School & Sports College

Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College at Spring Hall is based in Halifax, it is a purpose built, fully accessible Post-16 learning centre and out of hour’s community centre. Lying adjacent to an existing athletics track, the centre will provide exciting and innovative learning opportunities for up to 70 young people aged 16-19 and affording better provision for younger students.

Ravenscliffe are a dedicated special school where the entire site is accessible to those who use wheelchairs. They utilise a wide range of specialist and adapted facilities alongside traditional classroom bases, helping to fully meet the individual needs of each student. These facilities include a Hydrotherapy Pool, Rebound Therapy Suite, Sensory Rooms, Sports Hall and Dance Studio.

Ravenscliffe aim to recognise and respond to the individual needs of their students and provide them with a relevant and challenging curriculum whilst working closely with parents and carers.

The Personal Care Rooms were installed by Simply Moving and Sleeping, providing enough room for non-ambulant students to move around and for staff to help them if necessary, taking account of manual handling and transfer arrangements.

“Everyone who sees the personal hygiene suites comments how they look nothing like a traditional disabled toilet. I could not have asked for anything more and most importantly, the students and staff absolutely love them and feel relaxed when using them” says Julie Crabtree, Deputy Head of Ravenscliffe High School & Sports College.

Included in this is a hoist, for this project that takes up little space, is easy to operate and helps make lifting and moving processes safe, simple and comfortable for user and care staff.

Supplied by Scanflex the Ropox bathroom products were chosen for their simple, clean design; the Ropox Swing Wash Basin is a washbasin which can be swung to the user, making it possible for them to wash their hands while still sitting on the toilet and before leaving the toilet. Increasing the hygiene and making the user more self-reliant.

The Ropox Toilet Lifter with Toilet Support Arms assists the user and helper to obtain great support and improved mobility as well as safely seating the user in daily bathroom situations. It can be easily adjusted from seated position either by using the manual adjustment solution provided by a handle or by our electrical adjustment solution using a hand control.
